How do I take a sample of hair/fur?

Brush the hair/fur to reveal the skin/root area with a clean brush if possible. Take the sample 3-5 hairs from the brush ensuring there is a root attached. Enclose the sample in a sealed, labelled, plastic bag.

Can I send my sample if the fur is treated?

Yes, the test is completed on the composition of the sample so treatments will have no effect on the result.

How much hair/fur is required for a sample?

3-5 strands individual strands of hair is required from anywhere on the animal.

Can pets with short hair complete the test?

Hair samples do not have to be long as we can test hair from any part of the animal.

How do I order a test?

Tests can be ordered online through this website using our secure payment processing. Simply select the test right for your animal(s), add to the cart and follow the secure payment process.

Are there any additional fees?

The only additional cost is the amount you will have to pay in postage to return your sample. Ensure the correct postage amount has been paid as we are not liable for any extra charges.

Where are your laboratories?

Testing is processed worldwide, however, our primary testing facility is in the UK as part of a custom-built allergy and intolerance laboratory. We use postal hubs to ensure the sample reaches us safely. Once the sample has been received at our testing facility you will receive your results within 7 working days.

Where are the tests completed?

Test are completed in our laboratory facilities which all follow Good Laboratory Practice. These are a set of principles intended to ensure the quality and integrity of non-clinical laboratory studies such as ours.

What is the accreditation of the testing equipment?

Bruce Copen Laboratories follow a quality management system in accordance with EN ISO 13485: 2003 + AC: 2007 and are certified as a manufacturer of medical products. The MARS III is approved as a medical device class IIa in accordance with Directive 93/42/EEC
